Dragged into the Heritage Thing

I told everyone that I wasn't going to mess with Heritage this year.  Since I just recently returned to the hobby, I wanted to keep things simple.  (If simple means chasing after the entire '13 flagship rainbow!)  I did buy a few packs of Heritage to restock the trade bait and guess what?  I pulled more Braves than I usually do.  That was enough to convince me to put together the team set.  I however refuse to be pulled into chasing the Heritage rainbow.  Different color backs and refractors confuse me.

Nick over at Dime Boxes is the first blogger to help me out with some '13 Heritage:

#35 & 333

Nick also sent some 2012 Topps flagship and Updates:

#58, 85, 115, 524

These two sets should keep me busy until Series II comes out.  The various #'d '13 parallels have dried up on the Bay so the Rainbow Quest has slowed down a bit.  I've managed to pull off a few trades though, so it's all good.  I've updated my want list with '12 Topps and '13 Heritage.  Thanks for the trade Nick!!

Vintage (for me) Awesomeness

I recently sent Bert at Swing and A Pop-Up some cards off his '13 Topps want list.  In return he sent these three cards off my list:

'86 Topps #539
'91 Upper Deck #55
'93 Topps #410

I thought that the Hubbard was last card that I needed for the '86 team set.  Then I realized that there is a Dale Murphy All Star card #705...that's ok because I'm still going after the '86 Traded set.  The '93 All Star card completes my '93 Team set!!  Also, I don't know how I've made it so long without that Chipper Rookie card.

Speaking of Murphy, Bert also sent these:

'84 Topps #133
'80 Topps #274
'84 Topps Glossy All-Star #19
'86 Topps Glossy All-Star #18

But wait, Bert sent a lot more!

Whoa, cards from my birth year!!
'81 Topps 20, 44, 64, 87, 108, 247

'83 Topps Traded 69T

Wait, I had no clue that the Braves once had a minor league affiliate here in Savannah.  Presently the Savannah Sand Gnats are the "A" affiliate of the NY Mets.  I actually snagged a seasonal job with the team this year, so I'm getting a bit familiar with the Mets' potential future.

'76 Topps #306

Now we've stepped into a era where both players and cards are starting to be unfamiliar.

Bert sent many more cards including the bulk of the '85 Topps team set.  I'll have to update my want list to reflect some new sets that to collect.  Thank you so much for the trade Bert!!!

Way Behind Part II.

Matt over at Once a Cub... sent me this very important card in a trade:

'13 Topps Emerald #126

Believe it or not this is my first and only emerald card so far this year.

But wait, Matt also sent lots of unexpected cards.  I honestly didn't know what most of them were at first glance but here are the highlights:

2012 Topps Opening Day Inserts: M-2, Spot the Error #2 & SC-1

We didn't have Opening Day when I was a kid.  I actually bought my first pack of '13 Opening Day a couple of days ago and was happily able to trade most of the cards away.

More inserts, this time from '12 Topps GF-4, GF-11, GS-16, GS-42

I haven't even seen any of the '12 base cards!!

And finally two gold cards:

2012 Updates U268 gold sparkle (?) & 2011 Topps 273 Gold 826/2011.

I love a good parallel.  Thanks for the trade Matt!!

Way Behind

I'm way behind on acknowledging trades here.  I've been pretty busy so this will be short.  I sent Chris at Nachos Grande a couple of cards to help him finish off his '90 Topps set.  You can see my end of the deal here.  In return Chris sent these:

'09 Topps 352, 532, 582, 593.

I'm four cards away from finishing the '09 base team set.

Chris also sent some extra '90 Topps Braves cards.  I didn't care for the set as a kid and it's still not a favorite.  I haven't decided if I will complete the team set.  I probably will.  Thanks for the trade Chris!!

Heritage Short Print?

I bought a pack jumbo of '13 Heritage.  I haven't paid much attention to the set but I do know that this is a short print:

I also got:
10, 13, 20, 60, 80, 96, 116, 154, 176, 232, 242, 254, 268, 276, 292, 322, 352.

Two Braves were in the pack, 70 (McCann) & 218 (Beachy).  I can probably be convinced to give them up.  Everything is available for trades!

Lots of Trades!!

It's rainy and gross here in Savannah.  Nothing a huge mail day can't cheer up!!  There's lots to look here so let's get right to it.

First up is a trade with Tom at Waiting 'til Next Year.  You can see my end of the deal here.  Tom blew a good chunk out of my '91 Upper Deck want list:

#s 262, 301, 384, 460, 710

He also sent this '86 Topps card

You gotta love those powder blue uniforms.  I'm not sure how or why I was collecting this set as a teen in the late 90s.  All I know is that I have most of the team set, so this card really helps!  As a side note, I have hundreds of 90s cards sitting in my closet.  If any of ya'll are working on sets from back then, I probably can help you out.

Next up is Ryan at "O" No!!! Another Orioles Blog.  He too took a gigantic chunk out of my list.  Here are the highlights:

#293 & 363
More powder blue!

More '91 Upper Deck.  Only two more to go.

'94 Collector's Choice 306, 325, 441, 649

Love love love this set.

'94 Topps #166

'94 Upper Deck #320

2009 Topps #424 & 468

Napkin from The Adventures of Napkin Doon claimed a gold card off my trade bait page.  In exchange he sent a lot of cool stuff including my first 2013 Topps Gold card:

#115 Gold 277/2013

I haven't been too rigorously chasing these down, since they are plentiful in number.

TM-8 '72 Mini

2012 Allen & Ginter #33

My first card from any of these sets.  I don't know what to think yet, I need to see more.

Finally Ken at Ken's Daily Fix sent these:

TM-7, CH-26 gold, CH-35 Silver

I just need gold CH-31 to be finished with the Series 1 inserts.

Thanks so much for the trades guys.  There is no way that I would have made it this far on the rainbow journey without your help!!
